Marlow has very few moorings but it the site of the UK's first amphibious home. Normally the home will sit on terra firma but if the River Thames rises to flood levels it is capable of floating.

This technology has been pioneered in Maasbommel in the Netherlands and it is very exciting to see it come to the UK as it should pave the way for many more. Up to now houses on the River Thames that are replaced have to be able to cope with a 100 year flood level. This means that they are usually built with a raised basement that is allowed to flood. Often if the existing building was single storey no replacement could be built because the extra height required was not allowed.

These pages are provided by Floating Homes Limited to showcase the moorings we have visited in England. We do not own any of them and if we have a contact we supply it.
